Kasbah du Toubkal

Kasbah du Toubkal, just 60 km from Marrakech, is perched on an imposing outcrop at 1,800 metres above sea level, situated in Imlil at the foot of Jbel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. It is run through a unique partnership with the local Berber community, more of a berber hospitality centre than a traditional hotel, where the genuine friendliness, warmth and hospitality are exceptional.

The dream of brothers Mike and Chris McHugo who bought the property and began the extensive restoration that continues to date. Their friend, mountain guide and respected leader of the local community, Hajj Maurice, and his wife, Hajja Arkia, manage the property, employing a team of friendly and efficient staff from nearby villages.

Today, there are fourteen rooms with ensuite bathrooms, including a three-bedroom family house and separate Berber Salons and a fully-equipped function and conference room. Dar Imlil, an 11 bedroom Riad near the village centre and Azzedan, a 4 bedroom remote trekking lodge. All rooms are rustic yet comfortable, with simple berber adornments such as hand-woven carpets, blankets, intricate carved woodwork and oleander branch panelled ceilings.

The Kasbah is also home to our Morocco Wellness & Yoga Retreat
